The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec is pleased to announce that it held the draw for its 2nd edition of the Loterie du Cœur on September 13, 2011.   1. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec, hereafter called the « Foundation » is selling 120,000 tickets at a cost of $20 each. The tickets are numbered 000 001 to 120 000. Each ticket gives the holder the chance to win only one of the one hundred and seven (107) prizes described herein, which have a total value of $630,000. The tickets are available in all the branches of the Jean Coutu network in Québec, in the offices of Bonneville Homes, in the nine « Foundation » regional offices and its head office, as well as some other authorized outlets.
  2. Eligibility

    The lottery is open exclusively to residents of Québec, 18 years of age and older. Employees and members of the board of directors of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec are not eligible to enter this lottery.

  3. The sale of tickets will end on August 31, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Daylight Saving Time.
  4. Tickets are non-refundable. The lottery ticket is not tax deductible.
  5. Only official tickets will be accepted. Photocopies or manual reproductions will not be accepted. Coupons must be deposited in official boxes to be considered valid for the contest.
  6. All coupons become the property of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec.
  7. The draw for the Grand Prize will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. Daylight Saving Time at Bonneville Homes’ office, located in Beloeil, Québec.

    The Grand Prize, valued at approximately $400,000, including taxes, includes:

    • A Jordan house from Bonneville Homes valued at $300,000, all taxes included
    • $100,000 in cash

    *The winner may receive the house from Bonneville Homes in the municipality of his/her choice in Québec only (with the exception of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine region or any other region where the house cannot be transported) in accordance with the following conditions:

    1. the lot chosen must have public and municipal services.
    2. the Grand Prize includes the delivery and installation of the house within a 600 km radius of Bonneville Homes’ facilities, located in Beloeil. Beyond that 600 km radius, the cost of delivery of the house will be at the winner’s expense ($100/additional km) and the winner will have to make the necessary arrangements with Bonneville Homes. If suppliers must be hired to carry out the delivery or installation of the house, they must be approved in advance by Bonneville Homes.
    3. the winner accepts Bonneville Homes’ inclusions and exclusions as set out in appendix A.
    4. in the event that the winner is a resident of Îles-de-la-Madeleine, he/she will have to have the house installed elsewhere in Québec or accept the sum of $200,000.
  8. The Grand Prize winner will be advised by telephone or registered mail in the 48 hours following the date of the draw. The winner must accept the prize as it is described in the rules and regulations and in appendix A. If the winner chooses the Grand Prize that includes the house, he/she must have the house delivered before December 31, 2012. The winner will have to give Bonneville Homes four (4) months’ notice for the delivery of the house and allow six (6) months for on-site finishing work. The house must be delivered between the months of October and April.
  9. The Grand Prize winner may also choose to receive the sum of $200,000 in lieu of the Grand Prize which includes the house from Bonneville Homes and the cash award. Should the winner choose the sum of $200,000, the « Foundation » will remit to winner a cheque in the amount of $200,000. The winner will have 30 days from the date of the claiming of the prize to choose between the Grand Prize which includes the Bonneville house or the sum of $200,000.
  10. The draw for the remaining 106 prizes will take place immediately following the Grand Prize draw at Bonneville Homes, located in Beloeil, Québec. Coupons will be drawn at random in the following order:

    1. 1 coupon drawn for a $50,000 prize
    2. 2 coupons drawn for a $25,000 prizes
    3. 3 coupons drawn for $10,000 prizes
    4. 100 coupons drawn for $1,000 prizes
  11. The « Foundation » will contact the winners within 7 days following the date of the draw. Should the draw organizers be unable to reach winning ticket holders, the latter will have until January 14, 2012 to claim their prize. Should the winners fail to meet this deadline, they will be deemed to have renounced their prize. To prepare for such an eventuality, the « Foundation » will draw an additional ten (10) tickets immediately following the draw for the 107 prizes. The winners may claim their prize from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec, 1434 Sainte-Catherine Street West, Suite 500, telephone: 1 800 567-8563.

  12. Winners of prizes of $10,000 and above must sign a waiver form, confirming that they have conformed to official rules and regulations and that they accept the prize as awarded, without substitution, and that he/she releases the « Foundation », its partners, officers, management, builders, suppliers, representatives and respective agents from any and all liability pertaining to losses, damages, claims, requests, lawsuits, legal processes, fees, costs and any other obligation whatsoever, sustained, incurred or entered into by the winner or any other person, with respect to the drawing or the prize. Winners must return the signed waiver form within 30 days following its receipt.
  13. In all instances where a prize is claimed, the « Foundation » will award the prize exclusively to the person whose name appears on the draw ticket or to a person designated by the latter, in writing.
  14. All winners must accept to have their name, picture, image, voice or declaration used for promotional purposes by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec or its partners, without any expectation of remuneration.
  15. All winners will be announced in Le Journal de Montréal, Le Journal de Québec and on the loterieducoeur.ca, heartandstroke.qc.ca and bonnevillehomes.com web sites.

  1. What is LA LOTERIE DU CŒUR?

    The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec (the « Foundation ») Loterie du Cœur is back for a second edition. Through a partnership with Bonneville Homes, Jean Coutu Group and Quebecor Media, the Loterie du Cœur helps to continue funding research on the cardiovascular health of Quebecers. Tickets will be on sale everywhere in Québec from Tuesday April 5, 2011 until June 23, 2011 in the branches of the Jean Coutu network and Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in the offices of Bonneville Homes and the Foundation offices. Each ticket costs $20.

  2. What are this year’s prizes?

    The Grand Prize, worth $400,000, includes:

    • A Jordan house from Bonneville Homes valued at $300,000 including taxes
    • $100,000 in cash

    The remaining 106 secondary prizes are as follows:

    • 1 prize in the amount of $50,000
    • 2 prizes in the amount of $25,000
    • 3 prizes in the amount of $10,000
    • 100 prizes in the amount of $1,000

    *The winner of the Grand Prize may have the house installed in the municipality of his/her choice in Québec only (with the exception of the Îles de la Madeleine region or in any other location where the house cannot be transported), under the following conditions:

    Each ticket costs $20.

  4. How many tickets are up for sale?

    120,000 tickets, numbered from 000 001 to 120 000 will be up for sale.

  5. How will the proceeds from the lottery be used?

    The money raised through this lottery will be used to support research about heart disease and stroke to help save the lives of thousands of people suffering from cardiovascular disease each year. Without the support of several thousand donors, the fight against cardiovascular disease is impossible. Every donation is unique. Each one helps us in our quest for solutions.

  6. How can I buy tickets?

    Tickets are available in the branches of the Jean Coutu Network in Québec until June 23 and in Bonneville Homes' offices and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Québec's offices until August 31.

    A ticket order form is also available in pdf format. It simply needs to be filled out and then sent to us by email at loterieducoeur@fmcoeur.qc.ca or by fax at 1 514 871-1464.

  7. Can I buy my ticket online?

    No. The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec (RACJ) forbids the sale of tickets online. However, you can fill out the ticket order form and send it to us by email at loterieducoeur@fmcoeur.qc.ca or by fax at 514 871-1464.

  8. What are my chances of winning?

    The probability of winning can be calculated by dividing the number of prizes to be won by the number of tickets sold. In this case, the chances of winning are 107 in 120,000, which is one chance in approximately 1,121. The probability of winning the Grand Prize is 1 in 120,000.

  9. Will I get a tax receipt when I purchase a ticket?

    No, no tax receipt can be issued for the purchase of lottery tickets.

  10. If I win the Grand Prize, can I opt for a cash prize instead?

    Yes, a cash prize may be chosen. The Grand Prize winner can choose to receive $200,000 in lieu of the Grand Prize which includes the house from Bonneville Homes and the cash award. Should the winner opt for the cash prize, the Foundation will issue a cheque in the amount of $200,000.

  11. How will the winners be notified?

    Winners will be notified by telephone or registered mail. The Grand Prize winner will be notified within 48 hours of the date of the draw and the winners of secondary prizes will be notified within seven (7) days following the draw. Should the draw organizers be unable to reach the winners, the latter will have until January 14, 2012 to claim their prize. Should they fail to do so within the allotted time, the winner will be considered to have renounced his/her prize. To prepare for such an eventuality, the « Foundation » will draw an additional ten (10) tickets immediately following the draw for the 107 prizes.

  12. I lost my ticket or I never received it. Am I still eligible for the draw? Do I need my ticket to claim my prize?

    Yes, you are still eligible for the draw. You do not need your ticket to claim your prize. Winners of prizes worth $10,000 and above will be asked to sign a waiver that they must return within 30 days of receipt. In all cases, prizes will only be awarded to the person whose name appears on the draw ticket or to the person they have designated, in writing, to this effect.

  24. Are the cash prizes tax exempt?

    La Loterie du Cœur winnings are not taxable. This means that you do not have to pay federal or provincial income tax on the prizes won. However, earnings (interest and others) generated by your winnings are taxable.

  25. Can I give all or a portion of my winnings to the Foundation?

    Yes! The Foundation is grateful for all the financial support it receives which enables it to continue to lead the charge in eliminating cardiovascular disease and strokes as well as their impacts. A tax receipt will be issued to the generous donor for the entire amount of the donation.
